NIBI VMBO conference: 350 biology teachers “to the bottom”

On 29 and 30 May 2026 NIBI organised its conference for biology teachers in pre-vocational secondary education in Lunteren. About 350 teachers took part. The theme was “Tot op de bodem” (To the bottom), with 60 workshops on soil, from core samples to the seafloor, keynotes by Vincent Merckx (Naturalis) on underground fungal networks and by Erik van Sebille on the deep sea, and a record attempt in counting soil organisms with NIOO-KNAW, in which 144 counters set a new record.
