Austrian Biologist Association (ABA)
The Austrian Biologist Association (ABA) brings together biologists and people interested in biology across different professional fields. The association promotes biology and the biological sciences, supports professional exchange and networking, and contributes to public understanding of biological topics.
Membership is open to people working in, studying or otherwise closely connected with biology. ABA provides a national platform for professional and scientific exchange and represents Austrian biology within European cooperation, including ECBA.
Aims and activities
ABA pursues three main objectives: networking between biologists from different professional groups, public education and science communication, and career information on biological professions, including the definition of biological career profiles.
- bioskop – the association’s online magazine
- Two podcast formats: the bioskop podcast and “am Puls Biologie”
- A monthly e-mail newsletter
- Networking and information events, excursions and a job fair
ABA is organised in regional groups, including Western Austria and Vienna / Lower Austria, and relies on a team of volunteers.
